Linux Kernel KVM "update_cr8_intercept()" Local Denial of Service

The Linux kernel is exposed to a local denial of service issue that affects the Kernel based Virtual Machine (KVM). Specifically, "update_cr8_intercept()" can be triggered from userspace when no apic is present resulting in a NULL pointer dereference. Linux Kernel versions earlier than 2.6.32-rc1 are affected by this issue.
