Alleged RBS WorldPay hack ringleader extradited to the U.S.

26-year old Estonian Sergei Tsurikov – one of the 3 alleged alleged masterminds behind the massive RBS WorldPay hack executed in November 2008 – has been extradited to the U.S.

The Register reports that he was arraigned on Friday, and is facing several hacking, fraud and theft charges. He pleaded not guilty on all charges.

Both he and the other two suspects (Viktor Pleshchuk of St. Petersburg, Russia, and Oleg Covelin of Chisinau, Moldova) have been already convicted in Estonia, but in the U.S. they are facing up to 20 years of prison for wire fraud, up to 5 to 10 years for computer fraud, and a minimum mandatory sentence of 2 years for identity theft.

Tsurikov is the first one to be extradited – the extradition process for the other two is ongoing.
