American Express phishing scam

Emails purportedly coming from American Express are making the rounds of inboxes this month. Panda Labs reports they contain a request for Amex customers to update their accounts:

The link in the email takes them to an AmEx website lookalike, where if they enter the requested information, it gets sent to cybercriminals.

This kind of phishing attempt, along with the fake delivery notice scam, is always on the rise around holidays, when people do a lot of online shopping.

Just remember that banks and financial institutions would never ask you to review any kind of personal information by email or via online forms, and you’ll instantly recognize these attempts for what they are – phishing for suckers.
