ACSAC to host the National Computer Systems Security Award ceremony

The Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (ACSAC) today announced that it will host the 2007 National Computer Systems Security Award ceremony at this year’s event. The award will be presented to Dr. Steven M. Bellovin, Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University and long-time member of the research staff at AT&T Lab for his significant contributions to computer security at 6 p.m. on December 12, 2006 at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort.

The National Computer Systems Security Award is presented annually by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA). The prestigious honor, first awarded in 1988, recognizes individuals for scientific or technological breakthroughs, outstanding leadership, highly distinguished authorship or signi ficant long term contributions in the computer security field.

“ACSAC is honored to host the NIST/NSA National Computer Systems Security Award ceremony for Dr. Steven Bellovin,” said Daniel Thomsen, conference chair for ACSAC. “Steve’s contribution to practical computer security helped form today’s network security industry.”
