Infosecurity Europe 2004 was a record breaking success with a 14% increase in visitors to over 9,900 attendees (onsite figures pre-ABC Audit). Visitors packed the stands, seminars and keynotes as they updated themselves on the latest security services and products from over 300 exhibitors. As well as record visitor numbers, large corporates were also well represented as 38% of visitors were from companies with over 1000 employees. Over half of the visitors were IT Directors and IT Managers, a 17% increase on 2003. There was also a 43% increase in overseas visitors making the 9th show the best ever.

Visitors were very enthusiastic about the show, according to our exit polls, 90% of visitors came to look for new products, 84% were looking for new technologies and 66% were looking for new or alternative suppliers. Their comments ranged from, "Truly a gathering of the experts and an opportunity to learn" to "an invaluable and rare opportunity to meet with, interact and glean ideas from the European IT security community" and "Excellent! Virtually everything in one place, making timely comparison of similar products simple".

Claire Sellick Event Director of Infosecurity Europe said, "This year's show proves that information security is hot and at the top of organisations priorities. From talking to visitors and exhibitors, it is clear that most of the visitors who attended were knowledgeable decision makers who had an information security issue to resolve, and had come to source a solution. There was also a thirst for information on the latest security issues, which was satisfied by the seminar and keynote programme, the demand for information was so great that there was standing room only in many of the presentations. Exhibitors' stands were packed with visitors not just looking to catch up on the latest solutions, but to buy them. The demand for space for 2005 has been so great that we expanded up into the gallery level, and even with this increase nearly all of next years exhibition space has already been sold."

Sellick continued, "We also announced new Infosecurity events for the Russian and Iberian markets which have been greeted with great enthusiasm by the market. Infosecurity Moscow will run in September '04 and Infosecurity Iberia, covering Spain and Portugal will take place in Madrid in February 2005 alongside two other new Reed events, Storage Expo Iberia and Documation Iberia."
