Oracle Database 11g Release 2 is now available

Oracle Database 11g Release 2 is available and downloadable today.

In this release, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) delivers grid plug and play and new server pooling capabilities that enable organizations to reduce their server costs by streamlining the provisioning and management of consolidated database grids.

Edition-based Redefinition is introduced to allow customer database applications to be upgraded online; this removes the need for separate upgrade environments. Oracle Automatic Storage Management is extended to support a general-purpose cluster file system to help customers reduce their storage management costs.

Automated self-management capabilities can help to double database administrator productivity over older versions of Oracle Database, and reduce the time required to upgrade from prior releases.
