Curiosity fuels Chatroulette and Facebook scam

Another scam taking advantage of the curiosity of users is spreading on Facebook. This time, the lure is a supposedly embarrassing and disgusting chance meeting between father and daughter on Chatroulette:

As per usual, to see the offered picture/video, you must give permission to an application to access your basic information, post on your Wall, access your data any time, and manage your Pages and profile information.

Once you do that, the application immediately posts the same message you fell for as your Status message and, according to Graham Cluley, before showing you the wanted content will probably try to make you complete a revenue-generating survey.

Yes, you should know better by now and not fall for these tricks, but if you did this is what you do:

  • Go to Account/ Privacy Settings/ Applications and Websites and remove the application immediately
  • Delete any message that the application might have put on your profile and check for any change in your basic or profile information and permissions
  • Notify Facebook about the malicious/spammy nature of the application.
