New security nightmare: robot networks

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) views botnets as a major threat to the national networking infrastructure, in part because the DDoS attacks can disrupt industries that have a commercial presence on the Internet or rely on the Internet for command-and-control purposes. These hacker-controlled zombie computers can overload business Web sites with so many access requests that they are forced offline.
