Sun Names Chief Security Officer

Sun Microsystems Wednesday said it appointed security expert Whitfield Diffie to its newly created position of chief security officer (CSO).

The company also announced the appointment of Joanne Masters as director of the newly created Sun Global Security Program Office.

Diffie, who has worked at Sun since 1991, invented the concept of public-key encryption and is well-known as an authority on security issues.

Chrome extension thwarts user profiling based on typing behavior

Infosec consultant Paul Moore came up with a working solution to thwart a type of behavioral profiling. The result is a Chrome extension called Keyboard Privacy, which prevents profiling of users by the way they type by randomizing the rate at which characters reach the DOM.
