The real state of VoIP security

Over the last year, much has been made about the alleged security failings of VoIP. We've been warned by the press about eavesdropping, voice spam, phishing, spyware, and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. Unfortunately, much of this coverage is inspired by the firewall and carrier communities, which have a vested interest in portraying VoIP security as unrealistically gloomy.
