Chipmaker releases open source WLAN security software

WLAN chipmaker Atheros Communications said Monday that it will release its wireless security software on a free, open source basis.

Aimed device vendors, the JumpStart Developer's Kit and related software will enable rapid development of security software that the vendors can include for configuring the security aspects of WLAN products, the company said.
