Cisco unveils security offerings

Cisco Systems today is unveiling nine new software and hardware products, and upgrades to protect corporate computer networks from hackers and other Internet threats.

The offerings include ''intrusion prevention'' to provide an early warning system against attacks. Other features are built into network gear -- routers and switches -- to fend off attacks against corporate systems known as ''distributed-denial-of-service.''
