Microsoft, German partners back secure Net project

Microsoft Corp chairman Bill Gates and leaders of Germany's computer industry launched Monday a project to protect millions of computer users from Internet dangers such as viruses.

The number of threats was increasing, Gates said at the launch here. None of the companies could single- handedly secure the computer infrastructure. “Not even Microsoft,” he said, despite the billions of dollars it spends on research and development.
