Report: Cyberattacks against energy firms rise

The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that energy and power companies have been hit with an average 1,280 significant attacks in the last six months, far more than companies in any other industry.

The report, based on findings from the Alexandria, Virginia-based security firm Riptech, also says the number of cyberattacks increased 77 percent this year.
