Tech jobs: systems administration

The job title "systems administration" still appears on organization charts at many companies, but the actual responsibilities that go with it have evolved over the last few years.

"The role of systems administrator has taken on a new look recently," Terry Phillips, a branch manager with Robert Half International, told NewsFactor.

Part of this new look, explains Phillips, is the result of technology advancements that have changed how systems administrators do their jobs. Technologies that automate what previously were manual processes free the system administrator to take on other responsibilities.
