IBM ThinkPad T41p with the embedded security subsystem
IBM's new ThinkPad T41p and ThinkPad R50p notebook computers are very much alike, except that the T41p is one of the thinnest and lightest mobile workstations currently available, while the R50p offers users a 15-inch FlexView display.
Both promise to cut the cords that have kept engineers, product developers and digital-content creators tethered to specific desktop locations.
"We now work in a global environment and in a very decentralized way, which means that we actually have a lot of engineers who are disconnected from the main server and their main desk," said IBM PLM industry solution sales lead Tom Holt. "We also have a lot of outsourcing work being done in the engineering space, as well as a lot of collaboration going on between manufacturers and their outsourcing partners."
