Managed services undermine security threat

The need for holistic security management is crucial - the scale of compromised systems around the world has reached unprecedented heights, and all unprotected companies are vulnerable, says Geoff Tuck, regional sales director of Global Network Services at Unisys Africa.

A recent Gartner report predicts that 50% of small to medium enterprises across the globe will have been crippled by virus attacks by 2003, costing businesses and governments more than an estimated $18 billion in lost revenues through downtime and the repair of infected systems.

South African companies are slowly realising the importance of protecting corporate information and setting formal security policies in place.
