Network Associates' new focus: intrusion prevention
Network Associates laid out a new product strategy focused on intrusion prevention before a gathering of 650 customers and partners. The Santa Clara, Calif., company also announced that all products will carry the McAfee Security brand name.
In a tent set up on at the Alameda, Calif., training facility of the Oakland Raiders football team, Network Associates, Inc. (NAI) chairman and CEO George Samenuk said the company is moving away from the notion of intrusion blocking to that of intrusion prevention. To deliver on that concept, NAI will integrate its anti-virus, intrusion prevention, policy-and process-based firewall technology, and security deployment and management software within one product.
