This article describes the tricks, tools, and techniques hackers use to gain unauthorized access to Solaris[tm] Operating Environment (Solaris OE) systems. Ironically, it's often the most basic methods that hackers use to successfully gain access to your systems. All of the attacks described in this article have preventive solutions available; however, every day, hackers compromise systems using these attacks. Being aware of how these attacks are performed, you can raise awareness within your organization for the importance of building and maintaining secure systems.
