Appliances consolidate security

Symantec will ship a range of all-in-one security appliances, the Gateway Security 5400 series.

The appliances can combine anomaly- and signature-based intrusion prevention and detection systems; a full inspection firewall based on Symantec's Enterprise solution; IPSec-compliant virtual private network (VPN) capabilities; antivirus, internet content filtering, and anti-spam tools.

The appliances can be managed centrally using Symantec's Advanced Manager and Event Manager plug-ins, or individually using the included web-based Symantec Gateway Management Interface.
