Check Point Boosts Firewall Performance

Check Point Software Technologies Inc. on Wednesday detailed a new firewall performance enhancement module for use with its firewall and virtual private network products.

Check Point's Next Generation Performance Pack accelerates performance of the company's VPN-1/Firewall-1 products to perform at firewall speeds exceeding 3 Gbps and VPN speeds of close to 1 Gbps on industry-standard servers.

In addition, the software supports 40,000 simultaneous VPN tunnels for large deployments; 1.5 million connections for high web-traffic data centers or hosting environments; and 420,000 packets per second for small packet data, such as voice communications.
