Computers with DMV info stolen

In the state's third high-profile breach of personal privacy this year,the Department of Motor Vehicles will begin mailing letters today to 155 customerstelling them that their personal information might have been compromised when three desktop computers were stolen from a state vehicle in Hartford.

Unlike other breaches this year, no Social Security numbers were lost in the theft from a custom-designed Winnebago that had been towed to a Ford dealer two weeks ago for repairs. When state DMV officials went to pick up the Winnebago, used as a mobile DMV station, they discovered the theft and notified state police.
