Crooks behind spam deluge

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has launched a series of investigations into possible breaches of local anti-spamming laws following its successful prosecution of a Perth spammer last year.

The authority's anti-spam team manager, Bruce Matthews, said ACMA was pursuing a number of possible violations of the 2003 Spam Act as the volume of unsolicited emails hitting Australian servers continued to increase.
