Recent security breaches have state cracking down

Last year, it was a Vermont State College laptop that was stolen. Last month, it was sensitive information posted on a state web site. Last week, it was a state computer that had been compromised.

In all three instances, sensitive data -- like social security numbers and bank account numbers -- may have gotten into the wrong hands, and the state of Vermont has come across as being lax on computer security.
