D-Link introduces new WiMAX router
Wi-Fi and network gear maker D-Link announced a new router today that combines Wi-Fi, the growing gold standard for wireless hotspots, with mobile WiMAX, a new standard that some see as the future of high-speed mobility.
WiMAX delivers breakneck broadband speeds over the air. But, unlike Wi-Fi, which is used in airports, coffee shops, and millions of homes and offices around the world, WiMAX can transmit signals up to 30 miles, making it a way to provide broadband to hard-to-reach locations.
