BT cracking down on botnet operators

Communications giant BT is taking the fight directly to botnet perpetrators with the introduction of an automated "spam buster" system designed to track down - and shut down - infected PCs.

The system runs on BT's broadband network and uses Content Forensics technology from StreamShield Networks to scan millions of e-mails a day, providing the company with itemized reports on the location and size of spam campaigns originating around its network.
