Will industry rescue the identity card?

Industry may need to lead the way if the UK is ever to get a national identity card scheme that can deliver significant security and efficiency benefits.

That is the view of Simon Davies, one of the academics behind the London School of Economicsí controversial report last year on the cost and viability of the governmentís ID card scheme.
