Online security strengthened to protect consumers

The security measures used by ecommerce websites and banks are being beefed up so that internet shoppers have more protection against criminals.

Certification authorities such as Verisign, have made changes to how they issue SSL digital security certificates - indicated on a website by the golden padlock symbol at the bottom right of a browser.
