New technology boosts quantum cryptography

Los Alamos (N.M.) National Laboratory scientists say they've made a breakthrough in extending the limits for secure optical fiber communications.

The researchers have been working on quantum key distribution at telecommunications industry wavelength and achieved that standard in a 31-mile optic fiber.
