Catapult Communications Corporation announced support for a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) test suite that has been sanctioned by CERT. The Catapult DCT2000 and LANCE test systems can now be used to help vendors and operators of SIP-enabled products and systems to quickly detect potential security problems.

Developed by the PROTOS research group acting under the auspices of the Oulu University Group Secure Programming Group (OUSPG) in Finland, the purpose of the tests is to determine whether SIP-enabled equipment is vulnerable to attack. The approximately 4500 individual tests are delivered in an easy-to-use package that is included at no extra cost when Catapult's SIP/SIP-T test module is purchased.
