Nokia introduced tools for managing subscriber privacy, mobile Web service interfaces and presence management enabling operators to enhance the service offering for their subscribers with new mobile applications and content. In addition, Nokia launched three new mobile enhancements and two mobile security tools for enterprises. The Nokia iGMLC Privacy Manager, as part of the Nokia mPosition solution for mobile location services, gives mobile subscribers full control over their privacy settings by providing location information about a subscriber only if the subscriber has agreed. Subscribers can feel assured that they retain the "ownership" of their location information as it is used by the operator only with permission. Furthermore the subscriber will be able to create his or her own privacy manager settings by defining by whom, when and where the subscriber can be located.
Nokia also introduced a complete end-to-end security solution to provide the enterprise mobile workforce with secure connections to enterprise network resources. A key component of the Nokia Mobile VPN solution is the standards-based IPSec VPN client software developed by Nokia for Symbian Operating System devices such as Nokia 9200 Series Communicators. Consistent with an open, end-to-end solution offering, the Nokia Mobile VPN Client will be interoperable with, for example, the award-winning VPN gateway software from Nokia's global partner, Check Point Software Technologies. This Nokia Mobile VPN solution is backed by Nokia "First Call, Final Resolution" support and service.
To address the challenges associated with deploying and managing mobile handset security, Nokia developed the Nokia Security Service Manager. Nokia is introducing Nokia Security Service Manager (NSSM) to address the needs of secure over-the-air provisioning of security applications to Symbian OS based mobile handsets. With this product, Nokia enables enterprises to mobilize business-critical applications and services whilst maintaining security. NSSM will be utilized for the lifecycle management of mobile handset security, including deployment of security applications such as Mobile VPN Clients and providing them with automatic configuration updates. NSSM is a vendor and application independent, self-sufficient security provisioning and management system.
