SSL/TLS deployment best practices

SSL/TLS is a deceptively simple technology. It is easy to deploy, and it just works… except that it does not, really. The first part is true - SSL is easy to deploy - but it turns out that it is not easy to deploy correctly.

To ensure that SSL provides the necessary security, users must put more effort into properly configuring their servers.

In this video recorded at RSA Conference 2012, Ivan Ristic, Director of Engineering at Qualys, talks about SSL Labs and their efforts to understand how SSL was used and to remedy the lack of easy-to-use SSL tools and documentation.

Chrome extension thwarts user profiling based on typing behavior

Infosec consultant Paul Moore came up with a working solution to thwart a type of behavioral profiling. The result is a Chrome extension called Keyboard Privacy, which prevents profiling of users by the way they type by randomizing the rate at which characters reach the DOM.
